I am a husband, father, artist, author, and lifelong community advocate who has dedicated my career to creating better opportunities for children, families, and underserved communities.

As an Alameda Unified School District parent and President of the AUSD Board of Education, I believe every child deserves access to an excellent public education in schools where they feel safe, supported, and valued. I am running for re-election to continue the progress the board has started.

“Throughout my service, I have worked to ensure every student and family knows they belong in our schools, regardless of who they are, who they love, or how they identify.”

MORE ABOUT RYAN

For more than a decade, I have been actively involved in school leadership, working alongside educators, families, and our community to strengthen Alameda's public schools. During my time on the Board of Education, I have championed fiscal responsibility, invested in our educators, expanded opportunities for students, and worked to ensure our schools are places where every child can thrive. My leadership is rooted in collaboration and a steadfast commitment to putting students first.

Before serving on the Board, I was a PTA leader and foster care advocate, working to improve outcomes for children and young people. I also served for two years on Alameda County’s Measure A Oversight Committee, helping ensure public funds were invested responsibly. Since 2023, I have served on the Alameda County Fair Board, continuing my commitment to public service and community engagement.

I am proud to be the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to the Alameda Unified School District Board of Education and the first openly LGBTQ+ Board President in our district's history. Throughout my service, I have worked to ensure every student and family knows they belong in our schools, regardless of who they are, who they love, or how they identify.

My husband and I have been together for more than 30 years, and we have proudly called Alameda home while raising our son, Farber, a graduate of Alameda Unified schools. Our family's journey through Alameda's public schools has strengthened my belief that strong public education is the foundation of a strong community.

I have spent much of my life working to create better outcomes for those in need, and I remain committed to that mission as your AUSD Board Trustee. Together, we have made our schools stronger, more inclusive, and safer for our students, teachers, staff, and families. I am committed to building on that progress and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

My WORK. My Words.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
